Description
Gnoo Blas Motor Racing Circuit ran from 1953 to 1961 in the rural city of Orange, NSW. It was the birthplace of the Australian Touring Car Championship in 1960 — what would eventually become the V8 Supercars Championship — and the place where Sir Jack Brabham began his road racing career. This recreation captures the circuit as it appeared in its 1953 inaugural season.

About This Track
Gnoo Blas operated for less than a decade but earned its place in Australian motorsport history. The 6.1km circuit hosted the South Pacific Championship and brought international stars including Stirling Moss to central NSW. The track closed permanently after a fatal accident in 1961 and the land returned to local use. The public roads that formed the original circuit still exist today with very little change — you can still drive the Gnoo Blas layout in person if you visit Orange. This recreation preserves Gnoo Blas as it was during its first season — a window into the golden age of Australian road racing.
About This Recreation
This rFactor 2 version is converted with full permission from Neil Faichney, who created the original 2013 Gnoo Blas track for rFactor.
The original Gnoo Blas 1953 project was created by Neil Faichney in 2013, organised by Rod Monk of Troyton Racing Simulators, and funded by Tourism NSW as a promotion for the city of Orange.
With sincere thanks to:
– Neil Faichney — for creating the original track and granting permission for this rFactor 2 conversion
– Rod Monk (Troyton Racing Simulators) — for organising the original project
– Denis Gregory (Gnoo Blas Classic Car Club) — for research material and personal racing accounts
– Trudi at Orange City Library — for additional research material
– John Kich — for period photographs used to recreate houses and structures
– Tourism NSW — for funding the original project
This recreation aims to preserve their work and continue introducing new sim racers to a uniquely important piece of Australian motorsport heritage.
